Sotomayor just sounds so much smarter than them. Especially Sessions. What is this “objective,” “impartiality” they’re all so concerned about? The absence of a view from nowhere comes into focus when our subject is nonwhite, not male. She’s making that explicit, and they won’t let her. They want her to say — “you’re right. I’ll be impartial. I’ll see the law and apply it, and call it a day.” That’s absurd. What is law but a bunch of judicial opinions balanced on top of one another?!
